The Blues and Tigers once again open the season after an absence of three seasons; it will be the fifth time in total these rivals have played the first game of a new season since 2008.
This will be the 214th contest between Carlton and Richmond and the Blues hold a clear advantage winning 125 games to the Tigers 86; there's also been two draws.
